How to clean Leather Furniture

Caring for leather depends largely on whether the leather is finished or unfinished.
The majority of leathers in homes are finished, dyed and coated with a pigment and topcoat for easy maintenance. A simple test to determine if leather is finished is to take a drop of water and place it on an inconspicuous area. If the leather darkens, it is not finished. If the water remains on the surface it is finished leather.

Finished Leather Maintenance
Clean finished leather monthly with a damp cloth or sponge and a mild solution of Clean-n-Brite to remove contaminants. Pay particular attention to headrest areas and armrests.

Conditioning Leather
Conditioning will restore lost moisture and will leave a protective coating to trap dirt and help prevent stains from penetrating. Once a year condition your leather with a damp cloth and saddle soap.

If you have a question about unfinished leather please ask.

Common cleaning problems
Ink Marks:
Use Clean-n-Brite on finished leather and unfinished leather.

Grease:
Use a mild solution of Clean-n-Brite and a white cloth. Before removing a large grease spill, place cornstarch over the area and rub gently with your fingers. Let it sit until the cornstarch starts to pill. This process can be repeated until the grease is absorbed into the starch.

Wax & Gum:
Finished and unfinished leathers are treated the same. Place ice cubes into a plastic bag and place over the gum or wax until it becomes sufficiently hard and then pry the wax or gum from the surface. Any residual marks should be treated as grease.

This powerful stain remover and degreaser will work cleaning miracles around your home. Watch as stains vanish instantly before your eyes!
